Alternative Light Portraits | Project 12 | Orange County Portrait Photographer

Our Project 12 theme this month was Alternative Lighting. I had first started out photographing my boys at the beach in full sun, using my flash as fill. It was fun to do, but not quite as “alternative” as we were discussing! I joined Allison at her house with our boys and tried out some sparklers. We all had fun – but who knew sparklers had such short lifespans?! They worked, but barely. They did give off a nice glow that illuminated their faces with a nice warm light – perfect for the challenge. I am excited to try this again with some nice and powerful sparklers!
You can view Allison’s take on our impromptu session on her blog, Allison Jacobs, California Travel Photographer. You can also view Laura’s take on the theme at Laura Veno, Commercial and Editorial Photographer.

These are so fun! Love those expressions you captured…it shows just how much of a blast they were having!

These are great, Kimberly! I love their faces in each of the images. Looks like y’all had such a great time!
