New location fun | San Juan Capistrano Children’s Photographer

Recently I met up with some photographer friends to check out a new location. This is so much fun, and I wish we could do it more often…like weekly! My friend had heard of a great spot in San Juan Capistrano with old farm equipmentย  painted all different primary colors and pieced together. It is basically fun farm sculpture! It is such a perfect spot for kids, my boys loved exploring and I think I captured some photos that show their personality.

Clickin Walk 2011 ~ San Diego

This past Saturday was the first annual Clickin Walk. The event was hosted by the photography forum Clickin Moms. I’ve belonged to this forum for a little over a year, and it has truly been an invaluable resource. When a chance to co-lead a walk with Misty Dayton came up in Southern California, I jumped at the chance.ย  I’m so glad I did, it was such a great experience! It was so nice to meet up with ladies that I have seen on the forum in person, and a chance to meet new people who share my love of photography.ย  We have all started sharing our photos and it is so inspiring to see their takes on the same subjects….these are some seriously talented ladies.

Here are a few of mine from the walk.

Kern River Trip

This past weekend we ventured up to Kernville to visit Grandpa Skeen. It’s so nice to come up here, it is just so peaceful and beautiful. Before we had our little guys we would spend the day jet skiing on Lake Isabella or rafting the river. Now, we have to get a bit more creative. We went for walks by the river, visited the fish hatchery, and tried fishing for the first time. My boys are little nature and science lovers, so they had a great time exploring. Of course, we also spent some quality time with Grandpa and ate way too much comfort food!

My big guy was intense and took it very seriously. He did really well! He didn’t catch anything, but didn’t seem to mind. A neighboring fisherman gave him one of his fish, which G dutifully put back in the river (my little self proclaimed vegetarian!).

My little man was more interested in playing around, maybe next year!

The H Family | Laguna Beach Family Photographer

As I mentioned before, I had a little bit of blog downtime this summer as I was getting the new blog ready. I photographed some beautiful families that I didn’t want to put on the old blog, never to be seen again. I wanted to view them on my nice new blog…the one that was taking a wee bit too long to pull together! So, without any further ado, here is one of my summer sessions of one of those gorgeous families! This is the H family, and they were just amazing to photograph. This little boy has so much personality, he is such a charmer (and being adorable doesn’t hurt either!).
See what I mean?

Joelle|San Juan Capistrano Children’s Photographer

Joelle is going to be celebrating her Bat Mitzvah soon, and I am beyond excited to be photographing it! I met up with Joelle and her family in San Juan Capistrano to take some images for the event and announcements.ย  I used to teach middle school until my first son was born, and it made me realize how much I miss this age. ย These days I am pretty much surrounded by the 4 feet and under set, which I love, but they are a bit more challenging to photograph of course! I also captured a few of Joelle with her little brother.ย  I could immediately tell how much fun the two of them have together. I’m looking forward to photographing the Bat Mitzvah in a few weeks!

Melissa - September 23, 2011 - 12:38 am
