Editorial Photography| Project 12| Orange County Family Photographer

Our blog circle challenge this month was editorial photography. Editorial photography is typically the photos that accompany an article about a certain subject. I wanted to incorporate my boys and their current interests. Reading has been becoming more important to both of my boys. My youngest is just learning and my oldest is racking up pages for his goal in class (and loving it, happily!). We have also been trying to learn more about the history of the area that we live, so an editorial about the Katie Wheeler Library seemed like the perfect choice. The library is located in the Irvine Historic Park. Katie Wheeler was the granddaughter of James Irvine, and she was born in the house. It was the Irvine family home, built in 1908, until it was destroyed by fire in 1965. Luckily, it was rebuilt in 2008 to be as accurate as possible to the original home and became the Katie Wheeler Library. We had a great time checking out the building and reading books together. It is such a great place to read a book, you feel like you are in a cozy home rather than a library. Afterwards we walked around the Historic Park and checked out the grounds and neighboring buildings.

What a wonderful take on something that I’m sure so many take for granted. I would love to have such a beautiful library as such. Your images tell the perfect story! You should TOTALLY submit these to a local magazine!
