Project 12: Color Theory | Orange County Family Photographer

Summer is here, and we are ready to play! Our latest topic for Project 12 is Color Theory. The colors in an image can definitely draw the eye and make an ordinary image extraordinary. As I researched this topic I found that it can be quite complicated – even studying something as simple as the color wheel. I chose to photograph blue and yellow because they complement each other on the color wheel (actually blue and orange are a bit closer to complementary – but blue/yellow has been ingrained in me from editing photos!). I just love the look of these two colors together, they just look happy together! I mean minions are blue and yellow, and it doesn’t get better than that according to my boys! We had fun shooting at the park – which included some great primary colored play equipment as a bonus!
