This month’s challenge in our Portraits blog circle was backlighting and sunflare. I love shooting backlit, as I’m sure you can tell from scrolling through my blog! The boys and I were anxious to try a new location out so we took a walk at Aliso and Wood Canyon. We bike this area often and I always think how beautiful it would be to photograph. We had a great time. For more dreamy backlighting goodness, check out the beautiful work of Melissa Deakin, Buffalo, NY Family Photographer.
This is his “I would much rather be looking for bugs than indulging my photographer mom” look.
This one was taken at the end of the evening. It does not qualify as backlit since the sun had gone down, but I love how they are sitting together.

How fun to see your images from that night!!! I looooooove the one of the boys running with the sun flare.
So fun! My favorite is of them running down the road!
These are just so beautiful! The boys running on the road is my fave too, though they are all wonderful!
Kimberly, your boys are so adorable. What a great location and lighting. I particularly love the last one of them on the bench. I just love the composition of that one. Great post!
Your boys are so cute!! These shots totally made me smile. The first one and the last one are priceless. The light in the one of the boys running down the road is beautiful.
