Our Project 12 blog circle group decided to do one last post for the year. This time, we decided on an open theme, we can blog about anything we would like! I decided to take the opportunity to look back on my last year of photos – and, here comes the hard part- pick my favorites. So, here they are! Check out the favorites of Amber Norris Photography | Collins, MS Newborn and Family Photographer and then follow through our circle!
This was the first meeting for this father and son. Totally magical.
This one I chose because I finally took some portraits of my parents. I have so many candids, and lots of great images of them with the kids, but not many of them together like this. I love it and I need to take them more often.
This one I chose because, frankly, I am a sucker for silhouettes! I just love the simplicity of them, and how they can tell a story without all the detail of the typical image. I do try to get a family silhouette for every session if I can. Not only is this a beautiful family inside and out, but we had the most amazing skies that night, all framed by those tall palms. My client is going to hang a huge canvas of one of their silhouette images, and I can’t wait to see it. I’m so glad they like them as much as I do!
One of my favorite things about photographing families is the relationships between siblings. This image represents everything I love about it! They love each other:).
This one technically would not make the cut. It is not perfectly in focus, but I love it anyway. It just reflects both of their personalities so perfectly.
These two images are of my oldest son (8 at the time). He is so tough to get REAL photos of, which is mainly my fault! He is pretty tired of my camera. Here, he humored me a bit. Everyone who sees these says the same thing – That is classic G. I’m grateful to Project 12 for forcing me (in the best way)to get out and take these images.
This little girl makes me smile. A lot. I have photographed her every three months this year, and I love editing those sessions. Her smile is adorably infectious every time. I can’t wait for the big 1st birthday session!
This was from one of my favorite sessions this year. This was the very first family I ever photographed other than my own, and they are great friends of mine. Almost every year, their family grows by a little bit. There is huge love here:). There is also just a bit of chaos and I love that they love photos of them as they are.
These two images are both from a homecoming session I photographed last spring. Watching the families come together again is so wonderful and overwhelming, but going back and looking at the images I really love the reactions of those around them watching. So much joy!
I had an impulsive moment and finally bought the 70-200/2.8 L lens. No regrets, it is a beautiful lens. It is worth it for the images I am now able to take of my boys playing sports…I am hooked!
This image just jumped out at me because I think the family, colors, location, and reflections are beautiful!
I leave off with this image, because it represents something I want to do more of – photographing couples. I am a family photographer – but parents have so few images taken of themselves as a couple – and that is so important, too. I want to be better at that this year.
Love seeing all the variety you have photographed this year, from your subjects to locations to lighting! I can’t even begin to pick a fave!!!
